Established in 2005 in Marin County, California, by Marje Helfet and Annalisa Sullivan, Fairway Skins set its goal to manufacture golf accessories for women that have color, style and a sense of fashion.

“Why can’t there be a good-looking women’s golf glove with an attractive design and no large ugly tab touting some manufacturer’s name?” Marje asked herself in 2004. Her kids were almost grown and her husband was planning retirement. Anxious to take on a new challenge, a year later Marje met and befriended Annalisa Sullivan, an artist with a sense of humor and a mother of twin 9-year-old boys. Luckily, Annalisa also was looking to do something different, something she could create and build on her own.

The two talked for several weeks about starting the business before shaking hands and diving in. Producing a quality product and enjoying themselves were the two key components.

The original plan was to design handsome gloves of the softest Cabretta leather with a colorful attractive print, gloves that would make women feel fashionable and elegant. The Museum of Natural History in London granted permission to use some of their botanical images, and with the help of a glove manufacturer in Pennsylvania, Fairway Skins was born.

Fairway Skins exhibited at the PGA Show in Orlando, Florida, in January, 2006, and launched its second product, flowered zip pouches also made of Cabretta leather, in 2007.

Recently added to the collection are a series of butterfly gloves still maintaining a floral background. The story continues.
